DANCING
(for 5 percussionists)

An attractive and significant contribution to the percussion ensemble literature, this 11 minute work requires 5 players and features 4 movements: The antiphonal One-Legged Dance, the exotic Bug Dance, Dream Dance with its sustained mallet and bell sounds and the powerful concluding, War Dance.

Cleanly and sensitively scored, DANCING is sophisticated, but accessible to the audience; challenging, yet enjoyable for the players. (Difficulty level of parts: IV-VI)

Favorably reviewed in Percussive Notes (July 1986), this work has been performed by more than 50 college percussion ensembles throughout the continental United States, Puerto Rico and Japan. These performances include the Eastman School of Music, East Carolina University, Memphis State University and University of Idaho as well as a presentation at the Northwest Invitational Percussion Festival in Spokane, WA by the University of Washington Percussion Ensemble.
